18 DECEMBER 2013

08:05 JST

Finally touch down in Narita Airport after hours of flight!

08:30 JST
Got out from the arrival hall & went straight to collect the portable wifi from the airport post office

09:20 JST
After we had done collecting all the necessary stuffs (portable wifi, railway map etc) , we finally decide to get our train ticket to the city( Narita Express Train Ticket)~~
( FYI, Narita Airport is quite far way from Tokyo Prefecture it took me about 1hour40mins to reach Tokyo Station )

Narita airport railway station

...........
Initially I planned to take to Narita Express Train, cuz it would be much comfortable..
BUT !!!!!!!!! WHEN I REACH THE TICKET OFFICE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRAIN BREAK DOWN.
*thunder lightning storm*

BUT LUCKILYYYYYYYYY I GT BACKUP PLAN...
HAHAHAHAHA

BACKUP PLAN : TAKEXPRESS BUS LUHHHH
hahahaha
ACTUALLY this is a much cheaper alternative ONLY 1000yen ( which is only 10USD )to Tokyo station, quite comfortable as well but it takes longer time & u'll have to queue cuz they're on first come first serve basis........
(queueing outdoor is definitely not an issue during summer, fall & autumn , BUT ITS WINTERRRRRR 4degree + raining +strong winds CAN YOU IMAGINEEEE )

Where to board the express bus.

CUTE BUSSSSSS but no this is not the bus i took. ( i frgt to took pic of my bus so just have a look & imagine ok~~~they got the similar colour ><) hahaha
Approximately 1 hour 40mins or 2 hours , We've finally arrived at Tokyo Station Bus stop!

After arriving at Tokyo Station, the first thing to do is get a Suica pass (2000yen , included 500yen deposit) !
Cute RIGHTTT

Suica is something like EZlink / subway pass. :)
It'll be much easier + save time + convenient (no need to buy ticket) !! ** recommend**
After getting my Suica, The next stop will be my Hostel~~!!! FINALLYYYY~
So my hostel is located at Koenji , west of Shinjuku , its a really good location as its on the same line as Shinjuku / Tokyo station.
To reach there I need to take CHUO LINE (中央本線) frm Tokyo Station.
Map of Chuo Line

Tokyo Subway map
LOOKS VERY COMPLICATED RIGHT BUT TRUST MEEE WHEN U GET HERE, U'LL FIGURE OUT HOW IT WORKS AFTER 1/2 TRIES :)
**
Ohya BTW, PLEASE PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS,
In Japan, you're not allowed to use your phone on train , you're asked to Set your cell phone to silent mode and refrain from talking during your ride. (especially if u're near the priority seats.)

**
So we reach Koenji at about 11:20am, and then we called the Hostel and request for a pick up. >.< cuz we couldnt find it..
Train Platform!

Mini Convenient store that u can find in train stations/platforms
me & the pay phone~~ (  they even provide phone directory wow )
waited for about 5 mins or so we finally reached our hostel!!
Its only about 1 min away from the train station, HOW CONVENIENT!!

some pictures of the hostel..
Y'knw this is Japan.... Limited space so yeah! Satisfied enough
There's a cafe right in front of our hostel ;)

The front door & stairs.. vry steep& narrow so it'll be kinda inconvenient if ur luggage is heavy & big ><
Stairs to level 3, bookshelf full with travel guides!

The kitchen! yo're allowed to cook here (fully equip) but please make sure you clean it after used! :D
After we had settled down , unpack all our stuffs, put down everything
HERE WE GO~~
EX-PLO-RE !!!!!

me & the vending machine on train platform!
ohya I almost forgot!
In Japan , Eating & drinking is allowed in stations & on board train~~~~~

My reaction when i found out i can eat on train hahahahaha
 # 1 stop
IKEBUKURO
IKEBUKURO STATION
We went to Seibu Deparment Store for some shopping!!

西武池袋本店

World famous Macaroon.
so colourfullllllllllllll

bought a box of macaroons!
didnt took any pics while shopping cuz photo taking is not allow in most of the stores..
>.<

after about 3 hours of shopping its already dinner time (8+pm)!
Therefore we left the mall and went strolling along the streets + looking for the famous ramen store, Ichiran!!!!
I've always wanted to try ....

In Japan, alot of them uses vending machine to buy food (ticket)!
I like this idea alot cuz there wont be any language barrier cuz there's pictures on the machine so u'll know what is that you are ordering,

After you've gotten your ticket , please look at this direction board for vacant seat!

box with blue light = vacant

you'll be given a form like this to customise what you like! (submit this form together with the ticket!)

Tonkotsu Ramen
I finished everything!!! HAHAHA * I USUALLY CNT FINISH MY FOOD*

IT WAS A REALLY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. DEFINITELY NEED TO TRY.
+++++ their seating plan & food serving system are very unique!
The waiter/waitress will put down the wooden blinds & will do a FULL 90 degree bow after they served you your food.

SO POLITE YKNW IT MADE ME FEEL LIKE IM A VVIP HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
They have outlet almost everywhere! So need not to come ikebukuro just for this Ramen okie!
Click here to find a Ichiran outlet.

After dinner its already about 9.30pm, there's not much to shop already at this hour as most of the shops in Japan close at 8/9/9.30pm!
So we just stroll by the streets~~~~~
streets~
taxi taxi taxi
After about an hour of strolling & exploring~
Thats all for the day~ Went bck to our hostel and have some rest after a long long day~
Goodnight!
